Health & Happiness Starts With Loving Yourself First

Self-Love

Last week, I talked about overcoming limiting beliefs. One of the ways to do that is to practice self-love. Loving myself was a major part of my healing journey, especially recovering from the limiting beliefs that I had developed during my childhood/teenage years when I struggled with an eating disorder. I truly believe that so much healing can be done when we love ourselves for who we are. My wish for you today is that you to do something really special for yourself. That you see the beauty that is already within you and to love the skin that you are in.

“Words of affirmations plant seeds of self-love in your subconscious mind.”

There are many ways to plant seeds of self-love into your subconscious mind and into your heart. Today, I’m going to share one of my methods with you. First, I want you to know that self-love is not selfish, it is absolutely necessary for your survival. Secondly, I’m going to ask to do something really out of the ordinary, so all I ask is that you have an open mind and an open heart.

Self-Love Exercise

I want you to go into the bathroom, close and lock the door so that you are not interrupted, and look into the mirror. What positive things would you say to yourself? What do you want the woman looking back at you to know? Don’t just focus on your physical attributes, but what’s inside as well. Don’t worry if you don’t mean the words yet, that will come. What are the words that you want to hear? After this, I want you to look at yourself, stand in Superwoman, chest out, fists on hips pose and repeat these words:

“You are enough.”

“I am enough.”

“You are deserving of all your dreams and desires.”

“I am deserving of all my dreams and desires.”

“You are loved for just being you.”

“I am loved for just being me.”

“You are beautiful, inside and out.”

“I am beautiful, inside and out.”

“You are loved.”

“I am loved.”

Keep repeating these words of self-love until you feel the emotion behind it. Do this every day until you believe the words. Repeat the process until the words become beliefs that take root in your mind and light up your soul.

Sending you oodles of positivity, happiness & joy,

Laurie-ann Sheldrick, The Contagiously Positive Girl
