50 Personal Commandments For Being Contagiously Positive (Blog)

Being happy with your life isn’t just about positive thinking, it’s so much more than that. It’s about living your entire life as positively as you possibly can – in all areas of your life.

Judy Garland said, “Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.”

 

I have tried to hold on to that advice throughout the years. Do you want to just accept life as it is, or live the life you want? I want to live the life I want and I want the same thing for you. I want you to forge ahead and travel your own path. I want you to believe that you can be the happiest and healthiest person you know. My wish for you is that you get everything that you want in life and I want to help you achieve it. I haven’t always been a positive person. It was actually quite the opposite, but I made the choice a long time ago that as long as I was alive, I was going to be happy. I’ve learned a lot of things on my own personal journey and today I am going to share with you the things that will help keep you balanced, happy, positive and living a contagiously positive life.

 

  1. Don’t judge others.
  2. Don’t try to be someone else. They are already taken.
  3. Be authentic.
  4. You have to give love, to get love.
  5. Own your mistakes.
  6. Don’t blame others for your mistakes and choices.
  7. Be honest.
  8. Be open to change.
  9. Don’t hold a grudge. Forgive yourself and others.
  10. Be kind to yourself.
  11. Be kind to others.
  12. Slow down and enjoy this moment. What’s the rush?
  13. Don’t live in the past. You can’t go backwards, even though we wish we could.
  14. Show people who you truly are. You are awesome!
  15. Challenge yourself.
  16. Don’t let fear hold you back.
  17. Don’t spread yourself too thin. Practice saying no. It’s okay to say no.
  18. Don’t wait for the perfect time, or the perfect circumstances. Do it now!
  19. Always trust your gut.
  20. Along with professional goals, set personal goals.  What do you want? How do you want to feel every day?
  21. Celebrate all of your successes, big and small.
  22. Don’t feel guilty for taking the road less travelled. It’s your life.
  23. When you need help, let people help you. You don’t have to do it alone.
  24. Learn from others. There are teachers and mentors all around you.
  25. Run your own life. Don’t let life run you.
  26. Surround yourself with positive people.
  27. When you make the wrong decision, or make a mistake, look for the lessons and move on.
  28. Have a good sense of humor. Laughter is the best medicine and it’s contagious. Laugh a lot.
  29. Love a lot.
  30. Trust in yourself. You can do anything if you really want it and you work hard enough.
  31. Wear clothes that make you feel confident and fabulous, not trendy.
  32. End each day with taking stock with what you are grateful for.
  33. Eat healthy and eat real food. Follow a diet that works for you, not for everyone else.
  34. Create a healthy sleep routine. The more sleep you get, the happier you will be.
  35. Get moving. Exercise releases happy endorphins.
  36. Smile at people. Smiling is contagious J
  37. Focus on being happy, not perfect.
  38. Focus on being happy, not right.
  39. Be okay with failing and learn from it. With every failure comes an opportunity to learn and grow.
  40. Be guided by your heart. Your heart knows best.
  41. Allow yourself to be loved. Let people in.
  42. Don’t surround yourself with people who dim your light. You were meant to shine.
  43. Enjoy the journey and the destination.
  44. Remind yourself that for things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to be better.
  45. Measure success by how much fun you are having, not by the material possessions you own.
  46. Your best is always good enough.
  47. Don’t compare yourself to others. You are unique. You are fabulous.
  48. You don’t have to like everyone, but you should always be respectful.
  49. When you know better, you do better.
  50. Who you were, is not who you are. You can be whoever you want to be, you just have to choose and decide what that is.
