I hear so many of my clients say that they hate looking at themselves in the mirror. This statement always tugs at my heart. I wish they could the beauty that I see in them. I watched this amazing video of women who got to see a sketch of how strangers see them. It was as though for the first time they were seeing the beauty in themselves that others saw in them.
My wish for you today is that you to do something really special for yourself. I want you to go into the bathroom, close and lock the door so that you are not interrupted, and look into the mirror. What positive things would you say to yourself? What do you want the woman looking back at you to know? Don’t just focus on your physical attributes, but what’s inside as well.
I also want you to look at yourself and repeat these five things:
“I am enough”
“I am deserving of all my dreams and desires”
“I value who I am just for being me”
“I am beautiful, inside and out”
“I love myself”
Keep repeating them until you feel the emotion behind it and believe it. How important do you think it is to believe in yourself? Do this every day and I promise it will change the way you look at yourself.
“Nemo liber est qui corpori servit.” “No one is free who is a slave to his body.”
It is imperative to get out of your body and get into your heart. When you begin by loving what is inside, you will start to love what is outside as well. Even if you are not at your ideal weight, have the hair that you want, or look the way you want, your self-esteem will go up because you will start to love yourself for the amazing person that you are. It doesn’t mean you won’t continue to reach your weight loss goals, or anything else that you want, but you will be inspired to keep going. Think about how much energy you have when you are happy and say positive things to yourself. It inspires you to do whatever it takes to continue being happy and healthy. Negative self-talk is an energy vampire. It drains you of your energy, desires and inspirations.
Contagiously Positive Mini Life Bite: Happiness starts on the inside. It is not the things that we own that will brings us joy. Those are just bonuses and we only enjoy them when we are truly happy. You can have all the riches in the world and still feel miserable. Be happy with what you have and everything else that comes will be extra icing on an already delicious cake.
Every time you walk by a mirror, say something nice to yourself. Something as simple as, “Great job on your hair today.” Or, “that outfit makes your legs look awesome.” Does that sounds crazy to you? If you answered yes, what’s crazier, passing that same mirror and constantly belittling yourself, or saying nice things to yourself?
