The interview that I’m sharing with you today is a hot topic. Self-care is one of the #1 things that my clients cringe at when I ask the question, “What do you do, just for you?” The answer usually goes something like this…
I don’t have time.
It is selfish to think about myself.
I don’t like the way I look, so why bother.
I am too tired.
I am too busy.
I am too stressed out.
I don’t remember the last time I did anything just for me.
The reasons flow freely and the stress continues to build up because they give away more than they get – more of their time and more of themselves, physically and emotionally.
Here is what I know. Self-care is essential to managing stress. When you take a few minutes, just for yourself, you can manage a stressful situation with more ease. Clients have come to me and said that even just taking 15-30 minutes to do their hair and get dress for the day has helped them manage what the day throws up them. I hear this a lot from new moms.
What do you need? What do you want? What will help you feel at peace, confidant, sexy or relaxed? Whether it is a hot bath, a day at the spa, getting your nails done, a massage, getting a haircut, or just spending 1 uninterrupted hour to yourself, it is essential that you figure out what works for you.
But don’t take my word for it. Who better to talk to us about self-care than Sarah Dutka-Smith & Jessica Frey from Paramount DaySpa Salon & Boutique? Sarah is one of the owners at Paramount. She talks about managing a business, her health, marriage and all the other things that can make a day stressful. Jessica is a new mom, works full time, and is pulled in so many directions. They both have a strong belief that self-care is critical to managing their daily stress.
Paramount has been serving women for over 65 years. Today actually marks the beginning of their 65th Anniversary Celebration. That is truly amazing! Their passion to serve is apparent in everything they do, whether it is at the spa, or community involvement, which is why they are celebrating 65 years. They have a deep desire to serve and make sure that everyone who enters leaves with a smile. Every time I walk into Paramount, I feel the stress just melt away. They truly understand what people need, which is why I was so excited to have them be a part of this feature and even more excited to share this interview with you.
Let your self-care journey start here. Grab a cup of tea, sit down, relax and let Sarah & Jessica inspire you.
I hope this video has inspired you to do something just for you. Self-care is a critical step towards managing stress, so let your journey to becoming Contagiously Positive start today!
