In Chapter 4 of my book, Out of The Darkness, into The Light, I write about my personal journey to letting go of my past self, past pains, regrets, worries, what ifs and all the dark stormy things that prevent many us, myself included, from moving forward.
In today’s video I share a passage from my book and discuss three things we take from our past that hold us back:
- Limiting beliefs that we have taken from our childhood
- Hurt, disappointment and pain caused by others
- Regrets, worries and what ifs – should’ve, would’ve, could’ve
To truly step into a new positive life, I had to learn to not only let go of these things, but also to change my old habitual ways of doing things. What I have learned is that the best way is not always yesterdays way. Toni Morrison said it best when she wrote,“If you wanna fly, you got to give up that shit that weighs you down.”
